A Self Empowerment Project in Bangladesh - December 2010

21 Dec 2010

Taking note of the fact that a vast majority of the rural population of Bangladesh lives below the poverty line, a large number of these being orphans and widows, the Al Imdaad Foundation has embarked on a multi-faceted project to drastically improve the condition of our fellow brothers and sisters in Bangladesh. These projects include: - Zakaat Distribution: The Al Imdaad foundation has identified 2500 recipients of Zakaat and distributed funds to them in order to help alleviate their poverty and financial burden. - Feeding Scheme: The Al Imdaad Foundation has undertaken to feed 650 people for the period of one full year. All the nutritional needs of these people will be met with food suited to the local population. - Financial Help: 250 widows will be given financial aid to ensure that their households are sustained in the absence of a Father and bread winner. - Income Generation/Employment: The Al Imdaad Foundation has dealt with the problem of employment and income generation by providing 250 people (males and females) with sewing machines and a van to transport their goods. This will allow them to be self employed and enable them to generate income with their products. - Shelter: The Al Imdaad Foundation is in the process of building semi permanent homes for those families who have no shelter. As a result, 65 families will benefit from having a roof over their heads. The total number of beneficiaries for the abovementioned projects encapsulate approximately 4000 needy people.
