House Handover for Gogo Ngcobo
14 Sep 2018On Saturday the fifteenth of September 2018, the Al-Imdaad Foundation joined hands with government in the Ndwedwe area to hand over Gogo Ngcobo’s new house. The 86-year -old was looking resplendent and beamed with joy, thanking all present who had contributed to her home. The event was attended by the Al-Imdaad Foundation team, government officials and friends and family of Gogo Ngcobo who came to celebrate her life and her good turn of fortune. The Al-Imdaad Foundation had helped complete the house as funding from the original donor was insufficient. Al-Imdaad Foundation funded the roofing tiles and trusses and the electricity and plumbing installations.
Pendukile Matololo Ngcobo is an 86-year-old South African citizen from the rural Esuthumbini area in Ndwedwe Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal Province. Gogo Ngcobo had lived with her grand daughter and two grandchildren in an old dilapidated mud Rondavel (round hut) in a deeply rural area. Such was the conditions of her living, that snakes would regularly enter her house and a python had even made its night-time lair in one of the mud walls. Gogo Ngcobo had put a request forward to local authorities who relayed her story to the Deputy Minister of Social Development in South Africa. The Deputy Minister got in touch with the Al-Imdaad Foundation to assist with the house and the foundation committed to providing roofing, plumbing and electrical installations.
