Handover of Borehole and Back-2-School campaign
18 Jan 2018Al-Imdaad Foundation's UK volunteers completed their humanitarian mission in South Africa on January 17th by joining a special Back-2-School programme organised by the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial legislature. The UK volunteers participated in the distribution of hygiene packs at the Nkomokazini Technichal High School together with the Honourable Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Mr Willies Mchunu. Thereafter they moved on to the rural Loskop area in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, where they had sponsored a borehole at Phutini Secondary School. The borehole was officially handed over by the UK volunteers together with the Honourable KwaZulu-Natal Premier. Phutini Secondary had been identified as one of the most marginalised schools in the province and had previously had no running water or flush toilets. The UK donations enabled the establishment of a borehole together with pumps, 20 000 litres of Jojo tank storage, filters and taps. The borehole now benefits both the school and the surrounding community. Back-2-School stationery packs were also handed over to the school to be distributed to needy students.
