SUPPORT WATER RELIEF
27 Apr 2020In the context of COVID-19 we have all been made even more aware of the importance of water and good hygiene in the promotion of health and avoidance of disease. Yet access to safe water is often limited for the most vulnerable amongst us in townships, rural areas and water scarce areas.
Our water relief projects are ongoing, and we aim to reach as many needy communities as we can. In water scarce areas, each drop is precious and each Rand you contribute towards these projects is precious too.

SA Water Appeal 2019
15 Jan 2019With your support, we have been drilling boreholes in South Africa for over a decade, but in light of increased water scarcity over the last few years, we’ve stepped up these efforts. Our boreholes are installed with Jojo-tanks, pumps, plumbing and filtration systems to ensure pure water is provided to the neediest communities. Take our latest borehole in the Hlabisa area of Northern KwaZulu-Natal for example. Rural women were walking miles on end to fetch water for daily consumption. But with generous sponsorship from UK donors we were able to ensure that a rural Creche and the surrounding community in Hlabisa have a stable supply of pure water going forward. That’s the power of giving and making a difference.
Our borehole projects are ongoing, and we aim to reach as many needy communities as we can. In water scarce areas, each drop is precious and each rand you contribute towards these projects is precious too. Let’s ensure rural South African’s have enough safe water to cover their needs.

New Borehole in rural Engunjwini
14 Apr 2018Al-Imdaad Foundation drilled a new borehole at a Crèche in the rural Engunjwini area outside Vryheid. The borehole will benefit both the learners at the Crèche and the wider local community in an area that was badly affected by recent droughts. In order to limit costs to the struggling community, this borehole was installed with a solar powered pump which will be both sustainable and cost effective in the long run.
Since inception, the Al-Imdaad Foundation has always made water projects a regular part of its activities in South Africa. With the extended drought from 2015 onwards these projects were increased to help address communities facing critical water shortages. Thus far over 50 boreholes have been established to address the drought situation. Regular bottled water distributions are also regularly made in areas facing cut-offs or water connection problems.
