Zimbabwe Food Aid Distribution - Convoy leaves from Grey Street Jummah Musjid, Durban

In February 2009, the Al-Imdaad Foundation undertook a food aid distribution drive in Zimbabwe. Given the dismal socio-economic conditions of most Zimbabweans, essential items are hard to come by. Abject poverty is a daily reality for the majority of the population and human rights groups report that food aid is urgently needed for the millions of people living below the poverty line. The AIF co-ordinated a food relief project consisting of 8000 food parcels which were distributed to residents in Harare and surrounding towns. The aid convoy left from Jumuah Masjid in Grey Street, Durban and travelled directly into Harare. AIF team members assisted with the distribution, which was overseen by Mufti Ismail Menk and his brother Moulana Shabir Menk.
