World Homeless Day Activities
09 Oct 2018As part of World Homeless Day activities, Al-Imdaad Foundation’s Western Cape office provided sandwiches, fruit and juice for some 350 homeless persons from various shelters around the City of Cape Town. The homeless persons had been invited to an event hosted by the City of Cape Town Department of Social Development at the Culemborg Safe Space. Al-Imdaad Foundation also provided walking sticks to elderly persons requiring them. Local Councillors and other Officials were present for the event.
Snack packs delivered at Khayelitsha Clinic
19 Dec 2017On December 20th 2017, Al-Imdaad Foundation's Cape Town teams were on the ground at the Nolungile CHC Clinic in Site C Khayelitsha in an attempt to make the wait for treatment more bearable for patients in attendance. The teams distributed snack packs and bottled water together with onsite doctor and local Councillor Zahid Badroodien.
Distributions at International Day for Persons with Disabilities
07 Dec 2017On December 6th, 2017, Al-Imdaad Foundation teams in Cape Town partnered with the Western Cape Department of Social Development and Early Childhood Development for a commemorative event for the international day for persons with disabilities. The Al-Imdaad Foundation teams distributed sandwiches, bottled water and fruit to attendees at the event.

International Day for Older Persons
05 Oct 2017The International Day for Older Persons is an important occasion in recognition of senior citizens commemorated at the beginning of the month of October. This year Al-Imdaad Foundation teams in the Western Cape partnered with the City of Cape Town for special programme bringing together senior citizens from various old age homes around the city at the Wittebome Civic Centre in Wynberg. The Al-Imdaad Foundation distributed sandwiches, fruit and refreshments to the elderly assembly.
Outreach in Tygerberger and Louts river
26 Sep 2017On September 27th 2017, Al-Imdaad Foundation partnered with the office of the MEC for the Department of Social Development in the Western Cape to hand over adult diapers and hygiene packs at the Tygerberg Hospital Cancer Unit. Snack packs were also handed out to all the patients. A similar outreach programme was also conducted at the Lotus River Community Health Centre on September 22nd 2017.
Outreach in Philippi
28 Jul 2017Al-Imdaad Foundation teams in the Western Cape in cooperation with the Department of Social Development, offered moral and material support to a family who lost six members to a fire incident in Philippi earlier this week.
Reaching out in Witlokasie
25 Jul 2017As part of longer term #CapeRelief efforts, Al-Imdaad Foundation teams from the Western Cape handed over a new specialized wheelchair to 13-year-old Zuko Xalipi from White Location (Witlokasie), an informal settlement in Knysna that had been affected by the devastating fires. Zuko suffers from cerebral palsy, a congenital disorder of movement, muscle tone or posture.
Distributions in Macassar
19 Jul 2017Over a month on and our teams in Cape Town are still reaching out to communities affected by the devastating storm that struck the Western Cape on June 7th. In this round of interventions, food hampers, blankets, warm hats, hygiene packs and walking sticks were distributed to residents of Macassar, a small town close to Strand and Somerset West
Taking care of Elderly Residents
27 Jun 2017Al-Imdaad Foundation teams in Cape Town in partnership with Susters for Life, reached out to two elderly ladies in the Macassar area. The ladies received hampers, hygiene packs, blankets and food hampers as well as walking aids in the form of a wheel chair and walking stick.
Numerous poor areas and informal settlements in the Western Cape face difficult socioeconomic conditions. Many families struggle against the difficulties brought about by gangsterism, teenage pregnancies and drugs. Al-Imdaad Foundation’s office in the Western Cape often engages in outreach programmes to address the needs of vulnerable residents whether in the form of nutritional assistance, regular support or seasonal activities.
