Al-Imdaad Foundation teams were active on July 10th 2017 in Alfred Duma Municipality where they distributed blankets, walking sticks, hygiene packs and a wheel chair as part of an outreach programme in partnership with Operation Sukuma Sakhe. Distributions took place in Matiwaneskop near Elandslaagte and at the Mtatane Hall in Driefontein.

Operation Winter Warmth in the Karoo

On July 6th 2017 Al-Imdaad Foundation teams in the Western Cape conducted Operation Winter Warmth distributions for needy communities in the Karoo Towns of Matjiesfontein and Laingsburg. In Matjiesfonetein the teams partnered with Susters for Life to distribute blankets, warm hats, and hot soup to needy families. The Mayor of the Laingsburg Municipality, Aubrey Marthinus and Municpal Speaker Mike Gous were both present for the distribution. The teams also distributed warm hats to children attending holiday remedial classes at Acacia Primary in Laingsburg.

Winter Warmth distributions in Cape Town

As part of the ongoing Operation Winter Warmth campaign, the Al-Imdaad Foundation in Cape Town distributed blankets to families at Miles Bowker House, which is a 66 bed frail-care facility for psychiatric patients in Stikland. A second distribution of winter beanies were distributed to young children in the Delft and Uitsig areas to help them keep their ears warm over the holiday period.

Winter Warmth distributions at Durban schools

On June 2nd 2017, the Al-Imdaad Foundation’s team in Durban joined hands with the Phoneix Poverty Alleviation Association to identify needy students from 50 schools. These learners became the lucky beneficiaries of Al-Imdaad Foundation woollen beanies and blankets.

Distributions at Launch of Child Protection week in the Eastern Cape

On May 30th 2017, Al-Imdaad Foundation’s team in the Eastern Cape participated in the launch event for child protection week 2017 in partnership with the Department of Social Development. The team contributed blankets and warm woollen beanies which were distributed at the event which took place in Mlungusi location in Stutterhelm. Two wheel chairs were also handed over during the proceedings.

On May 24th 2017, distributions also took place in Crosby, Johannesburg at the Joe Slovo informal settlement. Al-Imdaad Foundation’s team in Gauteng were on the ground to distribute blankets to needy residents.

Operation Winter Warmth distributions in KZN

Over the past week, the Al-Imdaad Foundation undertook various Operation Winter Warmth distributions in KwaZulu-Natal province. Distributions took place in Braemer on the South Coast, in Phoenix and inland in Dundee. The distributions targeted school children and elderly citizens.

Distributions in Ermelo, Mpumlanga

Distributions also took place at Cebisa High school in Ermelo, Mpumalanga on May 17th 2017. Learners received hygiene packs and warm woollen beanies to help keep their ears warm during the cold winter months.

Operation Winter Warmth distributions at informal settlements

On May 10th 2017, Al-Imdaad Foundation teams from Johannesburg made their way to eMzinoni Township in Bethal, Mpumalanga for a blanket distribution programme as part of Operation Winter Warmth 2017. Teams had also conducted distributions on the 8th of May at the Zamamphilo informal settlement in Johannesburg’s Industria area in partnership with students from Auckland Park Academy of Excellence. The blankets will help needy families face the bitter chills that often characterise the region’s winter weather.

New Blankets for Johannesburg’s Homeless

In late March 2017, Al-Imdaad Foundation’s Johannesburg office reached out to homeless residents of the city, helping them to prepare for the coming chills. The teams went out to find homeless people and distributed blankets, and shared love with them, letting them know there were those who cared.
