Partnering to serve the Elderly and Disabled
25 Nov 2016After being contacted by the office of the Deputy Minister of Social Development, Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu with regards to a programme that they were having on Saturday 26 November 2016 for the aged and vulnerable in Mgobode Mawewe Village in Mpumalanga. The Al-Imdaad Foundation donated wheelchairs towards the project to benefit elderly and disabled community members. The Foundation also took the opportunity to address the audience about the work it carries out locally in South Africa.
On Saturday November 26th 2016, the Al-Imdaad Foundation joined the Deputy Minister of Social Development, Ms Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu in taking disability rights awareness month to the Mawewe village in Mpumalanga Province. The event formed part of the Disability Rights Awareness Month (DRAM) which takes place annually from November 3 until December 3. The aim of the campaign is to increase awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities as equal citizens. The campaign also seeks to accelerate equal access to socio-economic opportunities for persons with disabilities by making information available and accessible. The event marked the fourth week of DRAM which will be focusing on protecting and upholding the rights of persons with disabilities. As social partner in development and poverty eradication, the Al-Imdaad Foundation was supported the event and contributed wheelchairs for disabled an elderly residents of the Mawewe Village.
