The Al-Imdaad Foundation Sets up a School for displaced children in Shuheda camp

18 Aug 2014

In August 2014 the Al-Imdaad Foundation set up a school for children in the Shuheda camp in Idlib province. The camp has been operational for about 4 years and has developed long term needs such as a school for children. The existing school was in a dilapidated condition and operating out of a tent with little protection from the extremes of weather. The Al-Imdaad Foundation thus partnered with iHH to build a new school that could accommodate the camps children. Up to 55% of the 163 students enrolled are orphans having lost either their fathers or both parents. The school employs eleven staff members who work together to create an environment where the displaced children can receive an education despite the difficult conditions in which they live.
