2015 visit to the Kirikhan Orphanage

07 Dec 2015

In early December 2015, an Al-Imdaad Foundation delegation had the opportunity to visit orphanages sponsored by the foundation in the town of Reyhanli near the Turkish border with Syria including the recently relocated Kirikhan orphanage. The Kirikhan orphanage is a unique orphanage concept that provides refuge to orphaned children as well as their surviving relatives. In this way it allows them to retain the bonds of familial affection that still remain available. The facility accommodates 32 orphaned children with an age range of between 1 and 15 years as well as members of their immediate families. It is the first orphanage that the Al-Imdaad Foundation put up for Syrian refugees and holds a special position in the foundation’s activities. The orphanage has recently been moved from the small town of Kirikhan in Hatay province to the larger town of Reyhanli near the Syrian border and has been renamed the Halima Sa’diyyah Orphanage. The Al-Imdaad Foundation delegation that visited the orphanage described the way in which the children had captured their hearts. The delegation breakfasted and spent a few hours of the morning with the kids singing and interacting in an environment of love and warmth.
