Al-Imdaad Foundation responds to East London Flood disaster
25 Apr 2014Non-stop rains have wreaked havoc in East London and surrounding areas, causing major damage to property and roads. Idutywa, which falls in the Mbhashe Local Municipality and is part of the Amathole District was hit by a severe hailstorm that caused extensive damage in the area over the Easter weekend. Being in constant contact with Eastern Cape Provincial Disaster Management officials since the onset of the heavy rains, the Al-Imdaad Foundation’s Eastern Cape office identified over 600 people that were affected in four areas of East London. BAILEY FRANCIS Being the first organisation to respond to the disaster, the Al-Imdaad Foundation intervened immediately by providing food aid and blankets.
