30 Dec 2012Heavy downpours on the 31st of December2012 saw the small town of Bergville in the Okhalamba Region being adversely affected. More than 150 houses were affected by the heavy rain and lightning claimed the lives of two people. Having met with the heads of the relevant municipalities, The Al-Imdaad Foundation responded by providing blankets needy victims. Working together with the Okhahlamba municipality, SASSA and the Department of Social Development, over 200 blankets were distributed to the Dukuza and Engoba areas. Food vouchers for the value of R1200 were also distributed by the Department of Social Development with SASSA also pledging to assist with food parcels. The Al-Imdaad Foundation was accompanied to distribution points by the Chair of the Okhahlamba Municipality, Mrs Dladla and Mr Nathi Ngcobo of the Uthukela Municipality.
