“This would be the third team AIF put together that will leave around 30 September and they will go into the areas in Mogadishu and other areas as well,” said AIF’s Qari Ziyaad Patel.

AIF to send 3rd Mission to Somalia The Al-Imdaad Foundation (AIF) is set to send its third humanitarian mission to Somalia, where civilians are suffering from starvation in the wake of being struck by a drought and subsequent famine in the Horn of Africa. The foundation sent its first mission in July to assess the severity of the situation. A team delivering much-needed aid then travelled to the region during Ramadaan/August to assist the Somalis. “This would be the third team AIF put together that will leave around 30 September and they will go into the areas in Mogadishu and other areas as well,” said AIF’s Qari Ziyaad Patel. “A massive food aid distribution will take place and once again medical treatment will be available in the region. Somalia has been a very sad state of affair for the ummah at large and for humanity at large knowing in today’s times, amidst all the technological advancements, that we find such disasters on our footsteps,” said Patel. He added that AIF has long-term plans in place to assist Somalia. “We’ve just registered a field office in Mogadishu which is going to help us facilitate our humanitarian work in the region for the next 36 months. End of November we will also take the food aid distribution to the border of Kenya and Ethiopia because we find that these areas have been left out.” VOC (Faatimah Hendricks)
