On Monday 12th April 2021, Al-Imdaad Foundation partnered with the Bayede Heritage Trust for interventions at the Queen Kamsweli Primary School in Nongoma, in KwaZulu-Natal’s Zululand District.

Together with Her Majesty, Queen Nomphumelelo MaMchiza, school principal at Queen Kamsweli Primary and wife of former King Goodwill Zwelithini, the Al-Imdaad Foundation distributed plastic tables, and chairs, as well as school bags and stationery kits to individual learners. PPE was also provided to the school.

The intervention items were sponsored by Elite Star Trading and White Star Maize Meal who have been generously contributing towards the Al-Imdaad Foundation’s Back-2-School activities.

The Queen expressed gratitude to the Bayede Heritage Trust who had facilitated for the Al-Imdaad Foundation to come to her school. She explained the great need for the interventions during the Covid-19 period:

“We are doing this intervention to address a social distance problem that we have in our schools because we don’t have furniture. Al-Imdaad Foundation is here to donate furniture for the foundation phase. They are here to lend a helping hand to the school."

The Queen thanked the Al-Imdaad Foundation and the supporters who enable it to reach out to communities in deep rural areas.

Al-Imdaad Foundation’s HOD for intergovernmental Relations, Mr Abed Karrim, also appealed to donors to continue supporting local projects for rural communities in South Africa:

“There are many other matters that need to be addressed in these areas with your help and your donations”, said Karrim.
