CEO & NATIONAL COORDINATOR’S EID MESSAGE 1432/2011 29 Ramadan 1432 29 August 2011 As Salaamu Alaikum Wr. Wb. All praise is due to Allah (SWT), the Cherisher and the Sustainer of the Universe. Peace and salutation be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammed (SAW) in abundance. It gives me great satisfaction to address you once again. May ALLAH TA’ALA accept your Ibaadah, charity and recitation of the Holy Quran-e-Kareem this Ramadan. Generally, Ramadan is a busy time for most Muslim humanitarian agencies across the Muslim world but this month of Ramadan in particular has been a weightier challenge for us than before. The Somalian Famine Crisis reached its peak in the month of Ramadan and this propelled us to respond in a swift and sustainable manner as always. We thank our Beloved ALLAH for affording us the opportunity from amongst the millions of his servants to serve his Makhlook (creation) in Somalia who find themselves in such a grave situation. May ALLAH TA’ALA alleviate their pain and suffering. We urge you to remember them in your devout Duas. This humanitarian mission carried out in the holy month of Ramadan will be embedded in my personal memory as I still recall vivid images of a desperation, starvation and hunger. The Somalian Famine Crisis is literally a complex disaster which has various issues compounding the crisis. Security is of the utmost importance and the lack thereof sometimes hampers the humanitarian activities of NGO’s operating in the region. Whilst in the state of fasting and compromising our personal safety, our teams managed to facilitate relief aid and humanitarian services to the thousands of hungry and sick IDP’s residing at the many camps that have now landscaped Mogadishu. Alhumdulilah! With the media hype having passed, we have re-assessed the situation and chalked out a well-planned humanitarian strategy. A crisis of this magnitude that has evolved over a 60 year period cannot be resolved in a matter of just a few days. As part of AIF’s humanitarian strategy towards the Somalian Famine Crisis , we have setup a field office in Mogadishu. This office will allow us to facilitate our humanitarian work in the region for at least the next 36 months and medium to long term projects are already under negotiation. We therefore urge you to continue supporting our efforts in trying to make a difference to the lives of our fellow brothers and sisters. With the time of Eid being a joyous occasion for all Muslims. The Al-lmdaad Foundation, it's trustees, staff, donors and recipients would like to wish you and your family a blessed Eid Mubarak. We also extend our greetings of peace and happiness to our fellow citizens. EID MUBARAKI! Humble request for duas. Was Salaam.
